Gelinas Assigned to Mallards

*MOLINE, Ill. **(November 1, 2016) -* Defenseman Guillaume Gelinas has been assigned to the Quad City Mallards by the American Hockey League's Iowa Wild, the Mallards announced today.

Gelinas, 23, has played one game for Iowa this season. Last season the 5-foot-10-inch, 185-pound Quebec City native scored twice and added three assists in 25 games with Iowa and scored nine goals, collected 18 assists and totaled 27 points in 43 games with the Mallards.

Gelinas scored two goals and picked up two assists in 37 games as a rookie with Iowa in 2014-15. He turned professional after enjoying a standout junior career. Gelinas scored 43 goals and pocketed 150 assists for 193 points in 275 games over five seasons with the Val d'Or Foreurs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. In 2013-14 Gelinas won the Emile Bouchard Award as the league's top defenseman. That campaign also saw Gelinas lead QMJHL defensemen in points (92), finish third overall in assists (69) and finish seventh overall in points while capping off his junior career by helping propel the Foreurs to the QMJHL President's Cup title.

The Mallards return to action on the road Thursday night against the Cincinnati Cyclones. The Mallards next play at home next Sunday, November 6 at 4:05 p.m. against Cincinnati. Fans can bring their skates and join the Mallards on the ice for a postgame skate after that game.
