South Carolina Stingrays News Release

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC- The South Carolina Stingrays, proud affiliate of the Washington Capitals, have announced the signing of defenseman Steven Delisle. Delisle joins the roster in time for Tuesday's game against the Orlando Solar Bears, and is expected to be in the lineup for the 7:05 p.m. face-off wearing No. 38.

Delisle joins the Stingrays after spending the 2015-16 season with the Springfield Falcons in the American Hockey League (AHL). In 56 games, the defenseman registered 13 points (three goals, 10 assists) and 74 penalty minutes. Earlier in his professional career Delisle suited up for the AHL's Lehigh Valley Phantoms, Adirondack Phantoms and Connecticut Whale.

"We're excited to add Steve to our group today," said Stingrays head coach Ryan Warsofsky. "He's a big defenseman at six-foot-6 and gives us some size and bite on the back end. He's got a good shot from the point and we like the professional experience he has at the AHL level. He's a guy who will come in and play the right way on a night-to-night basis and his leadership qualities will also help some of our younger players."

The 26-year-old has played two previous seasons in the ECHL for the Chicago Express (2011-12) and the Greenville Road Warriors (2012-13). Before turning pro, Deslisle played for the Gatineau Olympiques of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) for four seasons from 2006-2010 and the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies during the 2009-10 season.

In a corresponding roster move, the Stingrays have released forward Mads Eller.
