Monarchs Sign Bissonnette to AHL Contract

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have signed left wing Paul Bissonnette to a standard player's contract (SPC) through the remainder of the 2014-15 season. He was released from his professional try out agreement (PTO).

Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough made the announcement.

Bissonnette, 29, has three assists and 29 penalty minutes in 19 games with the Monarchs this season. Manchester signed the 6-foot-3 winger to a PTO on Dec. 9 after he was released by Portland the previous day. Bissonnette spent parts of the last five seasons with the Coyotes, registering seven goals, 14 assists and 318 penalty minutes in 187 games. He made his NHL debut with Pittsburgh in 2008-09 by appearing in 15 games (1 assist). The Welland, ON native has played in 188 career AHL games between Manchester, Portland (8 games) and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (161 games). Bissonnette was selected by the Penguins in the fourth round (121st overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

The Monarchs currently lead the Atlantic Division with 60 points (27-10-4-2). They return to the ice tomorrow night with a 7 p.m. game against Albany at the Verizon Wireless Arena. This Saturday (Feb. 7) is the annual "Pink in the Rink" game against Providence. The Monarchs will be wearing specialty pink jerseys and the game will be played on pink ice. Proceeds will benefit the Breast Care Center at Catholic Medical Center.
