
Monarchs Promote Brust, Welch

MANCHESTER, NH â The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have recalled rookie goaltender Barry Brust and right wing Dan Welch from the Reading Royals, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced on Tuesday. Brust, 21, has a record of 20-8-3, a save-percentage of .924 and a goals-against-average of 2.02 in 33 appearances this season. The 6-foot-2, 216-pound native of Swan River, Manitoba is 4-0-0 with two shutouts in his last four appearances for the Royals, who currently reside in first place in the ECHL's North Division with a record of 33-17-5.
A third-round selection (73rd overall) of the Minnesota Wild in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Brust signed a three-year contract with the Kings last summer. He turned pro after four seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Calgary Hitmen and the Spokane Chiefs. Brust, who will wear jersey No. 33 for the Monarchs, compiled a record of 76-79-20, a save-percentage of .900 and a goals-against-average of 2.91 in 187 career WHL appearances.
Welch, 24, has appeared in 41 games with the Monarchs this season. The 5-foot-11, 193-pound native of Hastings, Minnesota has eight points (3-5=8) and 30 penalty minutes in the 41 games. Selected by the Kings in the eighth-round (245th overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Welch also has 15 points (8-7=15) and eight penalty minutes in 11 games with the Royals this season. Welch, a third year pro, has 30 points (12-18=30) and 70 penalty minutes in 114 career games with the Monarchs over the last three seasons.
The Monarchs return to action when they host the Springfield Falcons on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Wednesday's game will be the second of four straight games on home ice for the Monarchs.
Ticket Availability: 300 seats in the Gold Level and 3,000 seats in the Silver level remain for Wednesday's game against the Falcons.
