Missions Win 2-1 On Balk In Extra Innings

San Antonio Missions News Release

The Missions needed extra innings to defeat the Frisco RoughRiders, albeit in unconventional fashion. San Antonio loaded the bases in the bottom of the 11th and Frisco reliever Tanner Scheppers had an 0-2 count on Missions outfielder Sawyer Carroll. Home plate umpire Brandon Misun called Scheppers for a balk allowing Anthony Contreras to score with the winning run.

This was the seventh time in 24 meetings this season the Missions and RoughRiders have gone to extra innings.

Tonight's starters, Casey Kelly for the Missions and Ben Snyder for Frisco, both pitched well enough to win but neither would factor in the decision. Kelly allowed one run on five hits in six innings and Snyder yielded a run on three hits in his seven innings of work before turning it over to their respective bullpens.

The Missions are now 22-15 in the second-half and 71-36 overall, including 41-13 at The Wolff.

Tomorrow San Antonio welcomes the Corpus Christi Hooks (Houston Astros) for the first of three games. Left-hander Robbie Erlin, acquired in the Padres trade with the Texas Rangers Sunday, will make his Missions debut in the series opener. The Corpus starter is yet to be determined.

Tomorrow is a Cricket $2 Tuesday with $2 reserved tickets, $2 parking and $2 draft beer. It's also a KRAFT Singles Tuesday Tickets game. Buy one ticket get one free from KFRAFT Singles with a purchase.

As always, the San Antonio Missions can be heard on the home of the Missions KKYX 680 AM with the voices of the Missions, Roy Acuff and Mike Saeger calling all the action.
