Miracle Jerseys and Raiderettes This Weekend

March 17, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors and Alaska Aces will clash once again this weekend at the Rabobank Arena. The Condors trail the Aces by four points in the West Division standings and can move into a first place tie once again with a pair of regulation wins on Friday and Saturday.

Friday's game features a "Miracle on Ice" Jersey raffle and auction to benefit the Petroleum Shrine Club. The Condors will honor the 25th anniversary of the U.S. Hockey Team's unlikely triumph for a gold medal at the 1980 Winter Olympic Games by wearing replicas of those historic uniforms. During the game, five of the players' jerseys will be raffled off, with everyone in attendance eligible to win. After the game at center ice, the players will come out one by one for open bidding. Over $230,000 has been raised for charity with jersey auctions in CondorsTown. The jerseys are sponsored by KGET-TV 17, The Big 96.5 and American Business Machines.

Friday night is also a THINK Night, sponsored by Catholic Healthcare West Hospitals, the Department of Public Health and ARRC Technology. The THINK Program (Turning Hockey Into New Knowledge) allows students to earn complimentary tickets to select THINK nights through exceptional performance. This is the final THINK Night of the year, and with each of the selected games, one student's name was drawn to go into a raffle to win a free computer for their school. The final raffle will be Friday during the second intermission.

Friday is also Advertiser Appreciation Night. The Condors are thanking the sponsors that help make Condors hockey possible by handing out complimentary tickets to all advertisers.

On Saturday night, the Condors and Aces meet again and welcome the Oakland Raiderettes into town. The Raider Nation's finest return to the Rabobank Arena, courtesy of 106.1 KRAB Radio. The Raiderettes will perform at center ice during the intermissions and will be available for autographs and photographs.

Not only will the Raiderettes perform, but fans will be treated to the Stars Extreme Dance Team during the first intermission as well. The group includes 12-16 year old girls who are part of the cheer program at Stars Gymnastics. The local team participates in cheer competitions across the state and will put their talents on display at the arena this weekend. In addition, the Cal State Bakersfield Men's 400 Yard Freestyle Relay team will participate in the ceremonial faceoffs. The team, which features Mike Trujillo, Mark Soho, Piotr Gegotek and Condors Operations Assistant Seth Dawson, took first place recently at the national championships in Orlando.

The Condors Coach's Show airs regularly every Thursday on KGEO Hot Talk AM 1230 live from the Holiday Inn Select next door to the Rabobank Arena. Tonight's guests include D Dylan Mills and Head Coach Marty Raymond. Join the "Voice of the Condors" Kevin Bartl, meet Condors players and coaches and win great prizes. The show runs from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Season tickets, mini-plans and group outings can still be reserved by contacting the Condors office at 324-PUCK (7825) for more information.
