Titans ink Chaput

TRENTON, NJ (March 17, 2005) –The Trenton Titans today announced that have agreed to terms with rookie forward Chris Chaput for the remainder of the 2004-05 season. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"Chris is a speedy forward who has good skill around the net," said Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Mike Haviland. "He comes from a leadership role at a quality college program and we're excited to see him contribute down the stretch."

Chaput, 5'10", 190 lbs, joins the Titans having just completed his collegiate career at Providence University. The Pawtucket, RI native led the Friars in scoring the last two seasons as he has compiled 33 goals, 63 assists and 125 penalty minutes in 144 games over his four-year career at Providence. Chaput notched 30 points (10g, 20a) and 41 penalty minutes in 37 games this year before Providence was eliminated by Boston University in the quarterfinals of the Hockey East Tournament. Chaput will wear #23 and will be in the line-up tomorrow night when the Titans face off against the Toledo Storm at 7:30pm.

In a separate transaction, defenseman Matt Libby has returned from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League. The fourth-year pro has eight penalty minutes in 10 games with the Crunch. Libby has recorded 22 points (3g, 19a) and 41 PIM in 44 games for the Titans this season.
