Minnesota Wild recalls Khudobin, Aeros sign Beauchemin

HOUSTON, Texas - Minnesota Wild President and General Manager Doug Risebrough today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled goalie Anton Khudobin (pronounced an-TAWN khuh-DOH-bihn) from the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL) under emergency conditions. Aeros sign goaltender Rejean Beauchemin to a professional tryout (PTO) contract.
Khudobin, 22 (5/7/86), has appeared in six games with the Aeros this season posting a 2-3-1 record with a 2.58 goals against average (GAA) and a .914 SV%. He was 18-10-1 with a 2.71 GAA, a .901 SV% and four shutouts in 33 games with the ECHL's Florida Everblades. Khudobin was named the ECHL Saver of the Month for November after going 7-0-0 with a 1.36 GAA, a .954 SV% and three shutouts in eight starts. The 5-foot-11, 206-pound native of Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan backstopped Russia to a gold medal at the 2004 World Under-18 Hockey Championships posting a 4-2 record with a 2.17 GAA and a .914 SV%. Khudobin was originally selected by Minnesota in the seventh round (206th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He has not appeared in an NHL game. Khudobin, who was recalled from Houston March 29 and reassigned March 30, will wear #35 with the Wild.
Beauchemin, 23 (5/3/85), has played 31 games with ECHL Idaho this season with a record of 16-11-3 with a 2.66 GAA and a .895 SV%. The Winnipeg, Manitoba native was a sixth-round (no. 191 overall) draft pick by Philadelphia in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Beauchemin has played 22 games for the Philadelphia Phantoms over two seasons for his only AHL action. He has a record 5-13-1 in AHL games with a 3.22 GAA and an .893 SV%. Beauchemin will wear #30 with the Aeros.
