Manitoba Moose News Release

The Manitoba Moose, in conjunction with the American Hockey League, today announced centre Jason Krog has been named to the AHL Second All-Star Team for 2008-09.

Krog, 33, is currently the third leading scorer in the AHL with 83 points. He leads the Moose in goals (29), assists (54), as well as powerplay goals (10), and is on pace to set the new team standard for plus/minus as he is currently +25 (Lee Goren holds the Moose franchise record at +24, '04-05). Krog is also just 10 points shy of the current Moose record for points in a season (Bill Bowler - 93, '98-99). The Fernie, BC native holds the team's season standard so far for the longest assists streak (7 games), points streak (10 games), and goal streak (3 games). He has scored more than one point in 22 games this year and has scored three or more points in one game eight times. He was selected to the 2009 AHL All-Star Classic earlier this season, but was unable to play due to injury. Since the All-Star break, Krog has scored 36 points (14G, 22A) in 28 games.

This will be Krog's second All-Star selection in the AHL, as he was named to the AHL's First All-Star Team last season after appearing in all 80 games with the Calder Cup champion Chicago Wolves. He became just the third player in the AHL's 72-year history to lead the league in goals (39), assists (73), and points (112) which earned him the Les Cunningham Award as the AHL's Most Valuable Player. Krog also scored 12 goals and a record-tying 28 assists for 36 points in 24 Calder Cup playoff games. In his 10-year pro career, Krog has appeared in 372 games in the AHL with Lowell, Providence, Springfield, Bridgeport, Cincinnati, Chicago, and Manitoba. In that span, he's scored 445 points (156-289-445) and just 133 penalty minutes. He has also played in 202 career games in the NHL with the Islanders, Atlanta, the Rangers, and Vancouver, where he's scored 59 points (22-37-59). He also played in 21 Stanley Cup playoff games with the Mighty Ducks back in 2003 when they advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals versus the New Jersey Devils.

The American Hockey League First and Second All-Star Teams are voted by AHL players and media in each of the league's 29 member cities. Each All-Star Team member will receive a custom designed crystal award in recognition of his selection to the 2008-09 AHL First and Second All-Star Teams. The other five member of the AHL Second All-Star Team include Drew MacIntyre (G), Cody Franson (D), Ben Lovejoy (LW), Darren Haydar (RW), and Janne Pesonen (LW).
