Minnesota Recalls Goalie Alex Stalock Form Iowa

DES MOINES, IA - Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Wednesday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled goalie Alex Stalock (stay-lock) from the Iowa Wild, Minnesota's American Hockey League (AHL) club.

Stalock, 29 (7/28/87), is 20-16-7 with a 2.31 goals-against average (GAA), a .924 save percentage (SV%) and four shutouts in 45 games with Iowa in the American Hockey League (AHL) this season. He ranks T-4th in the AHL in shutouts, fifth in minutes played, T-7th in SV%, 11th in wins and 12th in GAA. The 6-foot, 187-pound native of Saint Paul, Minn., appeared in 13 games with the San Jose Sharks last season going 3-5-2 with a 2.94 GAA and a .884 SV%. Stalock is 24-19-7 with a 2.37 GAA, a .911 SV% and four shutouts in 62 career NHL games during parts of five seasons with San Jose (2010-16) and 0-1 with a 2.05 GAA and a .929 SV% in three Stanley Cup Playoff contests.

He played three seasons at the University of Minnesota Duluth (2006-09) and ranked first in the NCAA in minutes played and led the Bulldogs to the WCHA playoff championship and the NCAA West Regional Final in 2009. Stalock was named to the NCAA West First All-American Team and the WCHA First All-Star Team in 2009 and the WCHA All-Rookie Team in 2007. He played for Cedar Rapids in the United States Hockey League (USHL) for two seasons (2004-06) and was named the 2006 USHL Goaltender of the Year and the 2005 USHL Playoff MVP as Cedar Rapids won the Clark Cup. Stalock helped South Saint Paul High School to the 2004 Minnesota Class A State Hockey Tournament and was named to the All-Tournament Team.

He was originally drafted by San Jose in the fourth round (112th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft and was signed as a free agent by Minnesota on July 1, 2016.

Iowa welcomes the Chicago Wolves on Friday, March 31 at 7 PM. The Race Car night is presented by NAPA Auto Parts and Freedom Tires. The St. Patrick's Day themed specialty jerseys, worn by the Iowa Wild for all three home games in March, are auctioned off at the live postgame jersey auction on Friday, Mar. 31.

Iowa takes on the Cleveland Monsters at Wells Fargo Arena on Sunday, April 2 at 5 PM. It is Superhero night. The first 1500 kids 12 and under to arrive at the game receive youth Superman jerseys sponsored by Leafguard and Nash FM. The team is hosting a book drive at the game. There is a postgame skate at the conclusion of the game. Skates can be rented for $2 and proceeds benefit the American Diabetes Association. Kids skates are also available. Subway combo packs are available for purchase at the game.

The Wells Fargo Arena box office is open Monday - Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and closed on Sunday. For Saturday game days, the box office will open at 10 a.m. For Sunday game days the box office will open at 12 p.m. Fans may also purchase tickets by calling 1-844-55-HYVEE or by visiting participating Hy-Vee food stores locations in the greater Des Moines area.
