Memphis Redbirds News Release
Memphis, Tenn. - Round Rock shut out Memphis 3-0 Thursday night at AutoZone Park.
Express starter Josh Miller went the distance and allowed only three hits with seven strikeouts to earn the victory. Miller needed 120 pitches to hand the Redbirds their fourth shutout of the season and second in five days at home.
The Round Rock offense gave Miller all the support he needed in the sixth inning. In a scoreless game Yordany Ramirez put the Express on the board with a three-run homer to left field. Nick Gorneault and Ray Sadler each had two hits to lead Round Rock.
For the second straight night the Memphis offense could muster a season-low three hits. Josh Phelps led the âBirds with a pair of doubles and Jon Jay added a first inning single.
The Redbirds wrap up their homestand tomorrow night with right-hander Mitchell Boggs on the bump. Round Rock will send Ron Chiavacci to the hill. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
