Birmingham Barons News Release

JACKSON, Tenn. - Trey Michalczewski delivered a three-run home run in the seventh inning, but the Birmingham Barons (12-21) dropped a 10-3 decision to the Jackson Generals (17-15) on Wednesday afternoon at The Ballpark at Jackson.

Michalczewski's homer, his first since Aug. 19, 2018, represented the lone offense of the game for Birmingham. Luis Gonzalez and Gavin Sheets each added a pair of hits, but the Barons could not capitalize as Jackson plated five runs in the first three innings against left-hander Kodi Medeiros.

Medeiros (L, 0-5) remained winless as a Baron since he joined the club via trade July 26, 2018. The southpaw surrendered eight runs (six earned) on nine hits in 4.2 innings of work.

Mauricio Cabrera, Danny Dopico and Hunter Schryver combined to allow two runs across the final 3.1 frames for Birmingham.

Ben DeLuzio recorded three hits and five RBI to power the Generals, who claimed their second win of the current five-game series.

Generals right-hander Matt Peacock (W, 2-2) earned the victory after he allowed three runs in a seven-inning performance.

Birmingham and Jackson will continue their series Thursday afternoon. The Barons will send left-hander Bernardo Flores (1-4, 3.38) to the mound against Generals right-hander Emilio Vargas (1-0, 5.08). First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. at The Ballpark at Jackson.

Coverage of Thursday's game will begin at 5:50 p.m. with the Coca-Cola Pregame Show on WJQX-FM 100.5.
