Meyer throws six no-hit innings in Cats 3-0 win on Wednesday

West Sacramento, Calif. - Dan Meyer threw six no-hit innings as the Sacramento River Cats defeated the Tucson Sidewinders, 3-0, at Raley Field on Wednesday afternoon. It was the second consecutive shutout by Sacramento, the first time back-to-back shutouts have happened in River Cats franchise history.

Meyer, who was on a limited pitch count in just his second start back from an appendectomy, left the game after six innings without allowing a hit to earn the win. Meyer struck out four hitters and allowed two walks.

Tucson's Miguel Montero led of the seventh inning with a single to left field off River Cats reliever Ryan Wing for the Sidewinders first hit. Tucson had just two hits on the day. Brooks Conrad hit a solo home run off the left field foul pole in the first inning and finished 2-for-4. Outfielder Carlos Gonzalez was 3-for-4 with an RBI, lifting his season average to .326. Brad Ziegler earned the save, pitching two innings in relief, allowing one hit and striking out three batters.

The River Cats have now won three consecutive games, after starting 0-3 at home.
