April 16, 2008 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
The Iowa Cubs took advantage of a wild Jose Diaz to post a 6-4 win over the New Orleans Zephyrs on Wednesday night. Diaz walked five batters overall, including three in a row to load the bases in the fifth inning after retiring leadoff man Andres Blanco.
Matt Murton singled up the middle to drive two runs, tying the game at 2-2, and Jake Fox followed with a double down the right field line off reliever Jose Santiago to give the Cubs a lead they would not relinquish.
Diaz (0-2) allowed only three hits, but gave up four runs to take the loss.
Fernando Tatis belted his sixth home run in the 8th inning to draw the Z's within 6-4, but they would get no closer. Earlier, Chris Aguila hit his second home run.
The Zephyrs and Cubs continue their series on Thursday, with first pitch scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
