Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release
A strong performance from Valerio De Los Santos wasn't enough to stop the Colorado Springs Sky Sox season-long losing streak, and the Sky Sox fell 5-1 to the Portland Beavers at Security Service Field Wednesday afternoon, their third consecutive loss.
De Los Santos (1-1) made his first start of the season and held the Beavers scoreless through three innings. The first two batters for Portland reached base in the fourth inning before Brian Myrow's double broke the scoreless tie. A fielder's choice off the bat of Craig Stansberry followed by a sacrifice fly from Luke Carlin capped the scoring for the inning.
Cesar Ramos silenced the Sky Sox bats throughout his 5 2/3 innings of work as the Sky Sox struggles at the plate continued. Chris Frey's lead-off inside-the-park home run off Portland reliever Paul Abraham to leadoff the eighth inning would be the Sky Sox only run of the ballgame.
De Los Santos finished his day after six innings of work in which he allowed just three runs. He struck out three to go with two walks.
The Sky Sox and Beavers continue their four-game set Thursday morning with a 10:35 start time. Josh Towers is scheduled to take the hill for the Sky Sox while Wade LeBlanc will get the nod for the Beavers.
