Meyer Gets the Call to AHL

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president & general manager Craig Brush, along with head coach Gerry Fleming announced today that forward Stefan Meyer has been called up to the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.

Meyer becomes the fourth Everblades player to receive a call-up to the AHL since training camp opened on October 9. In his only action with the Everblades this season, the 20-year-old notched one goal in two pre-season games vs. Toledo last week.

Meyer, who is making his professional debut this season, spent the previous five seasons in the Western Hockey League with Medicine Hat posted his highest offensive numbers in 2004-05 when he scored 77 points (34g, 43a) in 69 games, and added 104 penalty minutes. During the 2003-04 campaign, the Fox Valley, Saskatchewan native put up similar numbers by collecting 75 points (34g, 41a) in 72 games. Meyer, a former second round draft pick by the Panthers in 2003, notched his WHL career high in goals scored with 36 and scored a total 52 points in 70 games in 2002-03.

Meyer joins Sean Curry, Joel Ward and Petr Taticek as call-ups to the AHL from the Everblades since the start of training camp.

The Everblades open the 2005-06 season on Friday, October 28 vs. the Las Vegas Wranglers at 7:30 p.m. from Germain Arena!
