Fives Are Wild On Royals' Promotional Schedule
October 20, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, today announced the team's 2005-06 premium promotional giveaway schedule for the 36 regular season games at Reading's Sovereign Center.
The theme of the promotional calendar centers around the team's fifth anniversary, and the season unfurls with a bang at the home opener on Saturday, October 29, when the team will raise the North Division regular season championship banner into the rafters of the Sovereign Center. Commemorating this historic event, all fans in attendance will receive a mini replica of the championship banner, courtesy of TSI Associates. Just to make sure things are plenty loud that night, Royals' thundersticks are going to be given to everyone in attendance, as well, courtesy of Comcast.
Consistent with the theme of commemorating the team's fifth anniversary, the Royals and their partners have put together several collector's edition promotional items that will be given away in series of five, including pint glasses (courtesy of All-Star Distributing in conjunction with several of their prominent beverage companies), trading cards (Rieck's Printing), posters (The Reading Eagle), and bobble heads, which will resemble the likeness of five of the most popular players in Royals' history.
A historic partnership will result in perhaps one of the most unique giveaways in all of professional sports, when the Royals join forces with the Reading Phillies baseball team for the first time in the respective histories of these two teams to give away a limited collector's edition white puck. The puck, which is sponsored by Coors Light, prominently displays the Royals' and Phillies' logos and will be given out at the February 21, 2006 home game against the Trenton Titans.
A complete list of the Royals' 36 premium promotional items this season is set out below. Included in the list are traditional favorites like magnetic schedules (November 11), car flags (November 22), car magnets (December 10), caps (December 17), and t-shirts (January 14). There are also a number of unique items, such as a mini-CD that displays important Royals' dates and images on a personal computer desktop (November 25), picture frames (December 3), potato heads (December 11), Powerball tickets (January 10), puck banks (February 12), and flashlights (February 25).
Gordon Kaye, the Royals' general manager, emphasized the organization's commitment to providing quality promotional items and experiences for its fans. "We believed that it was important to do something special for our fans in our fifth anniversary season, and that's why we have set up a schedule in which we give something to our fans at every home game. We could not have done this without the support of our partners, and we thank all of them for that. Consistent with our fifth anniversary theme, we also believed it particularly important to do things in series of five and also to have some entirely new and unique items. In this regard, the white puck done in conjunction with the Phillies and All-Star Distributing is going to be a big hit with our fans-and maybe other collectors, as well."
The Royals 5th Anniversary Season kicks off this Saturday night in Johnstown against the Chiefs. The home season begins in the Sovereign Center on Saturday, October 29 against the Trenton Titans. The Royals will raise the North Division regular season championship banner prior to the drop of the puck.
