Falcons announce opening day roster
October 20, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Fresno Falcons News Release
FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons submitted their official opening day roster to the ECHL yesterday. The team that will take the ice this weekend to begin the 2005-06 regular season includes six players from last year's Falcons club, eight players that played for head coach and general manager Matt Thomas and the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies a year ago, and five rookies.
Also included among the 21 players is last season's ECHL Defenseman of the Year, Ray DiLauro, whose ECHL rights were acquired on Tuesday from the Wheeling Nailers in exchange for financial considerations. DiLauro finished tied for first in the league last season with 33 power play points (9g-24a). He was also named First Team All-ECHL, as he finished second among ECHL defensemen with 40 assists and 52 points overall, both career highs. The third-year pro is signed to a contract with Fresno's American Hockey League affiliate, the Cleveland Barons, and has registered one assist in two games played for the Barons this season.
Forwards Brad Both and Rob McFeeters will begin the campaign on the seven-day injured reserve list.
The Falcons open the regular season on Oct. 21 and 22 at Save Mart Center against the Victoria Salmon Kings and Stockton Thunder, respectively. Both games begin at 7 p.m. Single-game tickets are on sale now at all Ticketmaster outlets and Save Mart Center's box office. Prices range from $8 - $23. For complete ticket information and an arena map of Save Mart Center, visit www.fresnofalcons.com/singletickets.html, or contact the Falcons front office directly at (559) 485-PUCK (7825).
