3/17: ST. PATRICK'S DAY SPECIAL; MECHANICS COMEBACK AND WIN 3-2 IN A SHOOTOUT OVER THE FROSTBITE!

The Mechanics for the second consecutive game went into a shootout. For the second consecutive game they won! Newly acquired, Andrei Lupandin made an impact in his first game as he scored on the power play to tie the game at 1-1. Adam Edinger then recorded his 42nd goal of the season in the third to tie the game at 2-2 and both teams headed into a shootout. Rod Branch made 4 saves on 4 shots while Edinger and Chris Gignac scored for the Mechanics to give them a 3-2 win.

- THE MECHANICS WORE SPECIAL ST. PATRICK'S DAY JERSEYS, WHICH WERE AUCTIONED OFF AFTER THE GAME. PROCEEDS FROM THE AUCTION WENT TO SOLID GROUND, INC.

- BRANCHS' 31ST WIN TIES HIS MARK OF LAST SEASON, WHICH HE SET DURING THE INAUGURAL SEASON.

- 3/18: MECHANICS COMPLETE PERFECT WEEK WITH A 4-1 WIN OVER THE JACKALS!

The Jackals started the scoring at 10:47 of the second period when former Mechanic, Konstantin Kalmikov buried a rebound off of a Jackal shot. From there on out the Mechanics would reel off four unanswered goals en route to a 4-1 win. Peter Szabo, Tom Kotsopoulos, Adam Edinger and Mike Burgoyne all scored for the Mechanics.

Rod Branch made 29 saves for his 32nd win of the season.

Wednesday, March 22nd: MECHANICS LOOK TO AVENGE THE LOSS FROM THE KOMETS ON FEBRUARY 26TH.

Through four games with the Komets the Mechanics have only gained one point. The Komets have a 3-0-1 lead in the season series and lead the all-time series at 7-2-1.

Friday, March 24th: HANSON BROTHERS WILL BE AT THE GREAT LAKES SPORTS CITY!

The Hanson Brothers from the famed movie "Slapshot" will be here at the Great Lakes Sports City as well as the Generals from Flint. Through 10 games this season the Mechanics lead the series at 7-3-0 and lead the all-time series at 13-6-0.

Saturday, March 25th: MECHANICS TRAVEL UP I-94 TO TAKE ON THE PORT HURON FLAGS!

This will be the eighth meeting of 10 as the Mechanics have a 5-2-0 season series lead. The last time these two teams met was over a month ago on February 18th when the Mechanics won 6-3. FACE-OFF: 7:30 PM

Sunday, March 26th: A MEETING WITH THE DEFENDING COLONIAL CUP CHAMPS; SEAN BALIGIAN FROM WDFN 1130 AM WILL BE ON HAND!

This will be the final meeting with the Fury this season. Through eight games the Fury have a slight edge as they have a 5-3-0 lead and lead in the all-time series at 11-4-0. Sunday also marks the arrival of Sean Baligian from WDFN 1130 AM. Baligian, an avid hockey fan, is the host of the popular sports talk show, "it is what it is."

Edinger, Szabo, Gretzky Line Has A Name

The great line of Adam Edinger, Peter Szabo and Brent Gretzky achieved the name on March 3rd. "The Assembly Line" was submitted along with hundreds of others but won out on our website vote by an astonishing margin. The other three final entries were, "Pit Crew," "Engine Line" and "Motor City Drive Train." The winning name was submitted by David Bolam. He wins an autographed jersey by the line and dinner at bd's Mongolian barbeque.

Assembly Line Factor: Updated through Week 22

When Adam Edinger scores a goal the Mechanics are 24-7-2, and 28-8-2 when he gets a point.

When Brent Gretzky nets a point the Mechanics are 30-8-3.

When Peter Szabo nets a point the Mechanics are 29-12-1.

Player of the Week Nominees

The Mechanics nominate, Peter Szabo as the Sher-Wood player of the week for the 22nd week of the season. This week Szabo tallied five points (1 goal, 4 assists) and was a

+3 rating. Three of his five points came against the Elmira Jackals on Saturday March 18th.

Goaltender of the Week

The Mechanics nominate Rod Branch as the Southern Sports Supply Goaltender of the week for the 22nd week of the season. This week Branch was a perfect 2-0-0 making 50 saves

on 53 shots while compiling a .943 SV% and a 1.50 GAA.
