
Over 11,000 fans welcome IceHogs back to Rockford

Apparently the Rockford IceHogs fans missed their team! After a season-long 20-day, seven-game road swing, the IceHogs returned home and played in front of 11,333 fans on Friday and Saturday. Rockford went 1-1-1 during Week 22 and look to clinch its fourth playoff spot in club history during Week 23.

Transactions
-Defenseman Molly McMaster was signed to a 14-Day PTO on Friday, March 17.
-Winger Greg Barber was loaned to the Milwaukee Admirals on Tuesday, March 14.
-Defenseman Josh Mizerek was acquired from the Adirondack Frostbite for defenseman Joe Markusen on Tuesday, March 14.
Bacon Bits:
The IceHogs drew 11,333 over the two-game weekend, the highest attendance in back-to-back games in club-history.
In Rockford's last three home games, the attendance is 18,131, an average of 6,043 per game.
Rockford's crowd on Saturday of 6,982 was the third largest in club history and largest to watch an IceHogs game that wasn't against the Quad City Mallards.
Winger Jason Notermann had his 11-game point streak come to an end on Sunday against the Missouri River Otters. Notermann had 8g-8a-16pts during his streak.
Center Oliver Proulx has a nine-game point streak. During his streak, he has 3g-14a-17pts during his hot stretch.
Defenseman Tom Zabkowicz committed his first penalty on Sunday in 23 games.
Rockford has outshot its opponents in nine straight games.
The IceHogs are 5-5-1 over its past 11 games. The stretch is Rockford's worst of the season.
The IceHogs tied a club record on Saturday with its 25th home win of the season. Rockford also accomplished 25 home wins last season.
The IceHogs are 7-2-0 against the UHL's Eastern Division and will play its final regular season game against an east opponent (Danbury) on Friday.
Hot Hog Week 22:
Center Preston Mizzi continued his career season during Week 22, netting 3g-3a-6pts. Mizzi's top game during Week 22 came on Saturday when the centerman notched 1g-3a against the Adirondack Frostbite. Mizzi leads the IceHogs with 29 goals.
Upcoming Games:
Friday, March 24 vs. Danbury Trashers. Game time is 7:05 p.m. The Trashers make its first and only visit to Rockford during the regular season on Friday. The first 1,000 fans to the game will receive a Steve Martinson Bobblehead courtesy of ComEd. The Bobblehead commemorates Martinson's 500th career win.
Saturday, March 25 vs. Fort Wayne Komets. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. Fort Wayne pays its final visit to the Forest City during the regular season on Saturday. Sponge Bob Square Pants will be in attendance on Saturday courtesy of Insight Communications. Come meet and take your picture with Sponge Bob. Also, before the contest, the Rockford area police will battle the Fort Wayne area police in a charity hockey game. Doors will open at 4 p.m and the police game begins at 4:30 p.m. All proceeds from the game will go to the families of three fallen Rockford area officers.
Sunday, March 26 at Quad City Mallards. The game begins at 4 p.m. Rockford hooks up with the Mallards for one final time at the MARK of the Quad Cities during the regular season. The two teams will meet once more at the MetroCentre.

Rockford IceHogs fans can catch all IceHogs Regular and Post Season games on Rockford's Voice, WNTA-AM 1330. Fans can also watch and listen to the Hogs on the World Wide Web with the B2 Networks! Log on to the IceHogs Web site (icehogs.com) and click on the "click here to watch the game live" icon, and for just $6, you can catch all of the IceHogs action on your computer. New to the network this season is ESPN Radio "The Jock" 1380 AM. The Jock will broadcast 20 Hogs games during the regular season. Check your local listings. Also, fans with Insight Cable television can tune in to Channel 57 for all the IceHogs hockey action this season. The broadcast begins with the Pregame Show 20 minutes before the puck drops. Miller Lite HogTalk returns this week to Shooters North located at 7742 Forest Hills Road in Loves Park from 6:30-7:30 p.m. WXRX's Jim Stone and Double T host the weekly show and this week they will be joined by IceHogs rookies Yannick Tifu and Tom Zabkowicz. Also, IceHogs Head Coach Steve Martinson will be on hand to talk about the week that was and the week ahead.
