Trashers forward Shawn Collymore named UHL Player of the Week

DANBURY, CT-Danbury Trashers forward Shawn Collymore, was named the UHL Sher-Wood Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday by the United Hockey League.

Collymore, 22, finished the week ending March 19th with eight points on four goals with a +8 rating over three games. He scored the game-winning goal in last Friday's 5-1 win over Roanoke Valley. On Saturday he scored a pair of goals and added an assist in Danbury's 5-2 win over the Vipers. He added three more points on Sunday including a goal in the Trashers 6-3 win over Roanoke Valley.

The LaSalle, Quebec native is currently riding a six-game goal scoring streak in which he also has at least two points in each of those games. He is also third in the UHL with a +41 this season and has 40 points on 20 goals in 50 games.

Collymore is the third Trashers player to earn the UHL Sher-Wood Player of the Week honors, joining David Hymovitz and Drew Omicioli, who garnered the award twice this season.

The Danbury Trashers travel to Rockford to face the IceHogs this Friday night at 8:05pm, followed by a Saturday night appearance against the Missouri River Otters at the St. Charles Family Arena starting at 8pm.
