- 1/11: RIVER OTTERS SWIM AWAY WITH THE WIN AT GREAT LAKES SPORTS CITY SUPERIOR ARENA FOR THE SECOND TIME THIS SEASON
On November 12th the Rover Otters came into Great Lakes Sports City Superior Arena and skated away with a 5-2 win. This night started out in a good way. The Mechanics Adam Edinger, fresh off an All-Star selection, scored just 51 seconds into the game giving the Mechanics the 1-0 lead. Fourteen minutes later the Mechanics made it 2-0 when Greg Bullock scored. That lead would stand up until late in the second period when Missouri's, Frank Littlejohn scored to cut the lead in half heading into the third period. In the third period it was all River Otters as they went on to score four unanswered goals and eventually won the game 5-2. The very same score they won with back on November 12th. Other Mechanics netting points were, Kevin Hansen (assist), Peter Szabo (assist) and Rod Branch (assist).
The River Otters and Mechanics face each other two more times this season. Each team visits the other one more time. On February 4th the Mechanics return to Missouri and on March 10th the River Otters return to Great Lakes Sports City Superior Arena.

§ ROD BRANCH MADE HIS 29TH START IN NET
- 1/13: ADAM EDINGER CONTINUES TORRID PACE OF GOALS VERSUS THE MUSKEGON FURY
The Fury and Mechanics played a tight defensive first period, but with 52 seconds remaining it was the Fury who struck first. Ryan Keller gave the Fury the lead heading into the intermission. The Mechanics fought back quickly when just one minute and 25 seconds into the second, Mike Burgoyne scored on the power play to tie the game at 1-1. Muskegon would retake the lead less than a minute later when Rustyn Dolyny scored his first of three goals on the night. Then at 15:57 Adam Edinger scored his eighth goal versus the Fury in the five games played against them this season. From that point on the Fury went on to score four unanswered goals including three goals within a span of three minutes and 17 seconds. The Mechanics would add a goal late in the game; however, the Mechanics fell for the third time this season against the Fury. Other Mechanics netting points were, Burgoyne (1 goal, 1 assist), Matt Smith (assist), Tom Kotsopoulos (goal), Scott Dobben (assist), Peter Szabo (assist) and Chris Bogas (assist).

§ MIKE BURGOYNE TALLIED SEVEN POINTS IN THE PAST THREE GAMES INCLUDING THE TWO POINTS VS THE FURY
- 1/14: MECHANICS TRAVEL TO KALAMAZOO FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS SEASON
The Mechanics finally made the trip to Kalamazoo after 33 games without a trip west. After falling in a 2-0 hole the Mechanics responded by tying the game by netting goals late in the first period and early in the second period. Greg Bullock scored the Mechanics first goal while Brent Gretzky tallied the early goal just 51 seconds into the second period. From that point on the Wings took control on reeled off three straight goals to take the game 5-2.
- 1/15: MECHANICS GAIN A POINT IN A SHOOTOUT WITH THE KOMETS
The Komets scored first to set the pace as both teams traded goals, twice to be exact. So after three periods of play and four total goals both teams headed into the shootout round. Adam Edinger started the shootout first by scoring but the Komets would reel of three straight and took a 3-2 lead as Kris Vernarsky scored the other goal. In round five, Greg Bullock scored to send it to the extra sudden death round. The Mechanics failed to score and in round seven the Komets ended the game when David Frawley beat Rod Branch.
Weekly Nominees
Player of the Week
The Mechanics nominate Forward, Peter Szabo for the Sher-Wood Player of the Week. Szabo tallied four points (4 assists) in the four games the Mechanics played this week. Szabo finished with a -7 rating and notched 13 shots on goal. Of the four assists, three of them were on the power play.
Goaltender of the Week
The Mechanics nominate Rod Branch as the Southern Sports Supply Goaltender of the Week. Branch finished the week with a 0-3-1 record, in 224:00 minutes played. Branch made 111 saves on 127 shots for a .874 SV% and a 4.28 GAA in the four games played this week.

Wednesday, January 18th: MECHANICS TRAVEL TO FLINT TO SEE THE GENERALS IN A RARE MID-WEEK MATCHUP
This is the sixth meeting between these two clubs with the Mechanics holding the edge in the season series with a 4-1-0 record. FACE-OFF: 7:05 PM
Friday, January 20th: MECHANICS FACE THE FURY AT L.C. WALKER ARENA AGAIN
For the second time within a week the Mechanics face the Fury at L.C. Walker Arena. Last week the Mechanics fell 6-3 at L.C. Walker. Through the five meetings this season the Fury hold a 3-2-0 lead in the season series. FACE-OFF: 7:40 PM
Saturday, January 21st: MECHANICS FACE THE FLAGS
The last time these two teams met was on January 7th with the Flags winning 4-3 in a close game. Through five meetings this season the Mechanics hold a 3-2-0 lead in the season series. FACE-OFF: 7:30 PM
Sunday, January 22nd: THE MECHANICS RETURN HOME AFTER A SIX GAME ROADTRIP
After a six game road trip the Mechanics finally return to Great Lakes Sports City Superior Arena. SUNDAY IS NASCAR NIGHT AND ALL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND AREA BUSINESSES CAN GET INTO THE GAME FOR JUST $1!! THAT'S RIGHT ONLY A $1! Oh and theirs a game too, the Quad City Mallards return to the Great Lakes Sports City Superior Arena and look to pick up where they left off. Last time they were here was on December 23rd in which they lost 4-1. Through five games the Mallards and Mechanics are tied in their season series at 2-2-1.
