McPherson Named IL Player of the Week

(Fort Mill, SC) - Earlier today the International League announced that Charlotte Knights slugger Dallas McPherson was named as the International League's Player of the Week for the period from July 16-22. McPherson hit .433 with an IL best four home runs and 13 RBIs last week for the Knights. He also finished the week second with nine runs scored and 13 hits.

McPherson, who is celebrating his 32nd birthday today, helped lead the Knights to a 5-2 record last week. He scored at least one run in six games and homered in four games.

A native of Greensboro, NC, McPherson has been on a tear since beginning the second half of the season. In 11 post-All-Star break games, McPherson is hitting .386 with five home runs and 17 RBIs. He hit five home runs and drove in 26 runs during the first half of the season (41 games).

For the season, McPherson is hitting .277 with 10 home runs, 31 runs scored, and 43 RBIs. He became the third Knights player to earn an IL weekly award this season, following pitchers Charlie Shirek (April 16-22) and Terry Doyle (May 28-June 3).

The Charlotte Knights are the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. The Knights return home to Knights Stadium on Tuesday, July 24 to open an eight-game homestand.
