July 23, 2012 - International League (IL1)
Buffalo Bisons News Release

The New York Mets have announced the addition of OF MIKE BAXTER to the Buffalo Bisons on a Major League injury rehabilitation assignment. Baxter will be active tonight for the Herd's final game of a four-game series against the Charlotte Knights at Coca-Cola Field at 7:05 p.m.

Baxter was placed on the Mets' disabled listed on June 3 after suffering a displaced right collarbone and fractured rib cartilage next to the sternum. The outfielder injured himself making a catch and then crashing into the outfield wall to help preserve Johan Santana's no-hitter against the St. Louis Cardinals on June 1.

In 40 games with the Mets prior to his injury, Baxter has hit .323 (21-65), including 14 runs, 10 RBIs, 11 doubles and a triple. Baxter began his injury rehab with Single-A St. Lucie from July 15-18 and hit .267 (4-15) with three doubles and four RBI. He then hit .300 (3-10) in three games with Double-A Binghamton.

Baxter played 18 games with the Bisons during the 2011 season and hit .188 (12-64) with one home run and seven RBI. The home run came on the very first pitch he saw with Buffalo, July 26 vs. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The Mets had claimed Baxter off waivers (San Diego) on July 22.
