Werth and Tracy Scheduled to Rehab in Syracuse

Syracuse, NY--The Syracuse Chiefs, Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals are pleased to announce that outfielder Jayson Werth and infielder Chad Tracy are scheduled to begin rehabilitation assignments in Syracuse tonight. The Chiefs take on the Norfolk Tides this evening at 7:00.

In 27 games with the Nationals this season, Werth was hitting .276 with three home runs and 12 RBI. The 33-year-old Werth broke his left wrist diving for a ball against the Phillies on May 6th. In one rehab game with Advanced-A Potomac, Werth went 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI on Saturday. Werth has played in 191 games in his career with Syracuse, all while the team was affiliated with the Blue Jays. He hit 27 home runs and 116 RBI in his stint in Syracuse in 2003 and 2004.

Chad Tracy has played in 32 games with the Nationals this season, putting together a .265 average with three homers and 12 RBI. Tracy tore a groin muscle in a game with Atlanta in late May.

Rehab assignments are subject to change.

Former 31-game winner Denny McLain is scheduled to be at Alliance Bank Stadium tonight to sign autographs during the game. McLain is the last Major-League pitcher to post 30 wins in a season.
