Hens Fall to Indy in 14

July 23, 2012 - International League (IL1)
Toledo Mud Hens News Release

The Hens and Indians struggled for runs against stellar pitching in the series finale, but Indy scored in the 14th to take a 2-1 victory over Toledo.

Indianapolis struck first with an RBI single by Starling Marte in the third to take a 1-0 lead. The run was the only one allowed by Hens starter Adam Wilk, who threw seven strong innings, allowing four hits while striking out seven.

The Hens tied it up in the fifth after Audy Ciriaco blasted a homer for the second night in a row. The Mud Hens managed four hits off Indians starter Jeff Locke, who left in the sixth after striking out nine and walking seven.

Both bullpens were stellar, not allowing a run until Brandon Boggs doubled off Luis Marte in the 14th to give the Indians the victory.

The Hens travel to Columbus tomorrow night to start a five-game set with the Clippers. Casey Crosby is scheduled to start the opener with first pitch at 7:05 pm.

Game Notes

Audy Ciriaco has an RBI in four straight games for the Hens.

The Hens are 3-7 in extra inning games this season.

The game was the Mud Hens fourth consecutive sellout at Fifth Third Field.
