Lincoln Saltdogs News Release

LINCOLN, NE - Lincoln Saltdogs catcher Shawn McGill on Monday was named as the American Association Batter of the Week. McGill becomes the second Lincoln hitter to earn the honor this season.

In five games last week, Shawn went 10-for-15 (.667) with three home runs and eight RBI, in home games against Sioux Falls and St. Paul. McGill destroyed Saints pitching in particular over the weekend, going 8-for-11 with a three-run homer on Friday and a pair of two-run homers on Sunday. On the season, Shawn has raised his average to .324, with five home runs and 29 RBI. McGill is currently second in the American Association with a .436 on-base percentage.

McGill joins infielder Eduardo Rios as Saltdogs who have earned player of the week honors this season. Rios was the league's Batter of the Week after the first weekend in June.

The Saltdogs begins play after the All-Star break Wednesday in Shreveport, playing the first of a four-game series. Lincoln enters the roadtrip with an 11-7 record in the second half, good for a two-game lead in the North Division.
