
AirHogs Fall to Diablos 4-1

Grand Prairie, TX (07.23.08) - The Grand Prairie AirHogs stranded 12 runners on base in a 4-1 loss on Wednesday night to the El Paso Diablos.
El Paso grabbed a run early in the top of the first with a RBI single by Jorge Alvarez bringing home Bryan Cooksey. The AirHogs were able to close the inning with the score at 1-0.
Grand Prairie finally answered the Diablos in the bottom of the fourth. Brandon Carter smashed a RBI triple down the left field line, plating Aaron Garza to tie the game at 1-1.
In the top of the sixth, the Diablos took the lead for good with a base clearing three RBI double by Cooksey pushing the score to 4-1.
The AirHogs had their opportunities, but left the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth as Mike Cervera was able to retire three to get out of the jam.
Kieran Mattison (9-2) earned the loss for Grand Prairie, pitching 6.0 innings with nine hits, four runs, two walks, and eight strikeouts.
Adam Blackley (6-5) earned the win for El Paso, pitching 5.0 innings with six hits, one run, four walks, and two strikeouts.
Mike Cervera earned the save pitching 2.0 innings with three strikeouts.
