New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
PORTLAND, ME - Mike McDade tallied three hits and an RBI and Brad Glenn hit a two-run homer in the ninth, but the Fisher Cats fell a run short, 5-4, to the Portland Sea Dogs (11-21) at Hadlock Field on Wednesday night. The loss results in a two-game sweep for Portland and leaves the Fisher Cats (13-18) with a 2-3 record as they come back to New Hampshire for a four-game series with Binghamton on Thursday night.
McDade picked up his first two hits - both singles - in the first and fourth inning, but the Fisher Cats were unable to assist him with additional base runners. In the seventh, trailing 2-0, that changed. McDade came up with runners at the corners and plated Ryan Goins to cut the deficit to 2-1. After a double play, John Tolisano doubled home Jonathan Diaz to tie the game at two.
The tie was short-lived as Portland rallied for a run in the sixth against Fernando Hernandez (L; 0-1). They padded their lead with two much-needed insurance runs in the seventh against lefty Aaron Loup.
In the ninth, a one-out walk to Tolisano set up Glenn. The righty had been just 3 for his last 28 before blasting his fourth home run to left-center, cutting a 5-2 deficit to 5-4. Charle Rosario avoided any further damage by retiring the final two batters to end the game.
McDade finished the game 3-4 as the Fisher Cats managed just six in the game. In the two-game series, New Hampshire managed just five runs on nine hits in a pair of losses.
The Fisher Cats now returns home on Thursday at 6:35 PM to begin a four-game series with the Binghamton Mets (New York Mets). It will be Girls Night Out at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium with food and drink specials for the ladies. For tickets and information, visit www.nhfishercats.com.
The Fisher Cats will send RHP Chad Jenkins (2-2, 5.35) against a yet-to-be-named Binghamton pitcher. Radio coverage begins at 6:15 PM with Tom Gauthier and Bob Lipman on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network and www.nhfishercats.com.
