MACON, GA- The Macon Mayhem and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Kerr announced Friday the signing of collegiate defenseman Doug Rose to an amateur tryout contract.

Rose, 24, makes his way to Macon from the NCAA Division III's Stevenson University and will get his first taste of professional hockey. The Sewell, NJ completed his senior season in late-February, and the right-hand-shot defenseman recorded seven goals, eight assists and 15 points over 26 games this year. In four years for the Mustangs, Rose had 20 goals, 34 assists and 54 points over 101 games. Prior to his time at Stevenson, the 5-10, 190-pound defenseman played three seasons for the Fairbanks Ice Dogs of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) and recorded 71 points in 155 games.

"We're excited to bring Doug in to see how his game translates to pro hockey," said Kerr. "He's a guy that can really move the puck and fits our system very well. We can't wait to see what he can bring to our team over the final weeks of the season."

The Mayhem have also placed defenseman Ben Boukal on waivers. Boukal signed with the Mayhem from the Danville Dashers on January 31st, and he had one goal, one assist and a plus-five rating in 12 games with Macon.

Rose will make his professional debut this weekend, as the Mayhem host Military Appreciation Weekend on Friday and Saturday. For ticket information, visit MaconMayhem.com or call the Mayhem Front Office at (478) 803-1592.
