The Mayhem are coming off of a thrilling 5-4 overtime victory in their last game against the Peoria Rivermen to move to 29-16-6 on the season. Fayetteville fell on Thursday night 6-2 to the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs to drop their fourth straight.
SCOUTING THE MARKSMEN:
The Marksmen have struggled all season to earn victories, but it has been even tougher sledding over the past couple of months. The team has won just two of their last 21 contests, and after snapping their 12-game losing streak on March 16, they have now lost four straight games. Fayetteville struggles to get on the scoreboard, as they rank 10th in goals for per game at 2.65. They also rank last in goals against per game, as they allow 4.58 goals per game. Their special teams are also near the bottom of the league, as they rank eighth in power play percentage at 16.2% and 10th in penalty kill percentage at 76.7%. Despite the team's struggles, Jake Hauswirth continues to be one of the best players in the league. After posting three points in two games last weekend and one point last night, he now has 25 goals, 38 assists and 63 points in 52 games this season.
MR. 100:
John Siemer plays his 100th career SPHL game tonight in Fayetteville - all for the Mayhem. Over his first 99 SPHL games, Siemer has 33 goals, 59 assists and 92 points - including 16 goals, 31 assists and 47 points in 51 games this season. He has been on fire lately for Macon, tallying five goals, 12 assists and 17 points over his last 15 games.
PURE DOMINATION:
The Mayhem have feasted on the last-place Fayetteville Marksmen all season, as they are 7-0-1 in eight contests against them. In the eight games, the Mayhem have scored 45 goals (5.63 per game) and allowed just 19 goals (2.38 per game).
GOAL-SCORING GROOVE:
After scoring just one goal from November 16th through March 9th, captain Daniel Gentzler has found his scoring touch once again. After scoring a goal against Peoria on Saturday, he now has five goals in his last six games.
