
Ice Flyers Break Losing Streak; Beat Bulls 7-6

PENSACOLA, FL. - The Ice Flyers broke their three-game losing streak with a 7-6 win over the Birmingham Bulls in front of 3,507 fans at The Hangar. The Ice Flyers goals were scored by Jessyko Bernard, Christian Weidauer, Charlie Adams, Liam Kerins and Josh Cousineau with Garrett Milan scoring twice. The Birmingham goals were scored by Mike Davis, Shane Topf, Alexander Taulien and Matt Fuller, with Jacob Barber scoring two goals.
The first period was back and forth between the Bulls and the Ice Flyers. Birmingham got on the board first with a goal from Jacob Barber at 5:21. He was assisted by Josh Harris and Caleb Apperson. Garrett Milan tied it up at 10:54, with assists from Charlie Adams and Liam Kerins. It was Kerins first professional point. Two minutes later, Mike Davis scored an unassisted goal for Birmingham, putting them up one over the Ice Flyers. Jessyko Bernard tied it up once more, with a pass from Chad Thibodeau at 17:55. The Ice Flyers outshot the Bulls 15-11 in the first.
Pensacola dominated the second period, scoring three unanswered goals. It started off with a goal from Christian Weidauer just 48 seconds into the period. He was assisted by Trever Hertz and Ken Neil. 14:27 in, Trever Hertz drew a penalty shot, but he was unsuccessful. 30 seconds later, with assists from Garrett Milan and Liam Kerins, Charlie Adams found the back of the net to bring Pensacola up two goals over Birmingham. Liam Kerins scored his first professional goal on a pass from Charlie Adams at 17:56. Once again, Pensacola outshot Birmingham 15-4.
Garrett Milan started the third period off with a goal 27 seconds in. He was assisted by Liam Kerins and Tim Boyle. Less than two minutes later, Shane Topf scored once more for Birmingham, halfing the score. He was assisted by Caleb Apperson and Jacob Barber. At 15:47, Josh Cousineau scored the seventh goal of the game for the Ice Flyers, with TJ Sarcona and Chapen LeBlond tallying assists. However, 58 seconds later, Alexander Taulien from Sean Gammage and Graham Yeo brought Birmingham up to four goals. Matt Fuller, assisted by Craig Simchuk and Alexander Taulien scored at 18:38. Eight seconds later, Jacob brought the Bulls within one with his second goal of the night. He was assisted by Sean Gammage and Josh Harris. The Bulls outshot the Ice Flyers in the third 18-16.
Notes:
Braeden Ostepchuk started in net for the Ice Flyers for the first time in tonight's game. He blocked 27 of 33 shots.
Liam Kerins scored his first professional goal of his career, as well as tallying three assists on the night for a total of four points.
Garrett Milan scored two goals and added an assist for three points on the night.
Charlie Adams scored one goal and tallied two assist for three points.
The Ice Flyers will play the Birmingham Bulls again tomorrow night, Saturday, March 31 at 7:05 p.m. for our second night of Fan Appreciation Weekend! There will be more prize giveaways throughout the game!
Because of a change in Marvel's licensing program with our jersey provider, we are unable to host Marvel Night tomorrow night, or wear the Captain America jerseys. Therefore, the team will not be holding a jersey auction after tomorrow night's game. However, tomorrow's game will be a continuation of Fan Appreciation night, with more prizes and giveaways during the game.
