MACON, GA- The Macon Mayhem and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Kerr announced Friday morning that the team has signed defenseman Larry Smith to a standard player contract.

The 25-year-old defenseman makes his way to Macon after spending three games for the Pensacola Ice Flyers on an amateur tryout (ATO). Smith spent the last four years with the Niagara University Purple Eagles at the NCAA Division I level, completing his collegiate career on March 3rd against American International College. In four years for the Purple Eagles, the Buffalo, NY native tallied four goals, 17 assists and 21 points in 98 games, including one assist over 21 games in his senior season. Smith was a three-year teammate of Macon defenseman Vinny Muto at Niagara University. Prior to his time in college, the 6-3, 210-pound defenseman played junior hockey in the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL), Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) and the United States Hockey League (USHL).
