The Mudcats and visiting Potomac Nationals face off in a morning match-up today for game two of their three game series. Carolina took game one in walk-off fashion last night and now look for the series clinching victory in today's 11:00 a.m., Education Day game. The Mudcats come in at 13-17 through their first 30 games of the 2016 season. They are currently in third place in the Carolina League Southern Division standings and 8.5 games back of first place Salem. The Nationals are 16-13 so far in 2016 and are in 2nd place in the Northern Division (5.0 games out first behind Lynchburg).

RHP Ryan Clark will start for the Mudcats in today's morning ballgame. Clark enters at 0-3 with a 6.12 ERA over five starts so far this season. He last pitched on 5/4 in Salem against the Red Sox and suffered his third loss of the year after giving up four runs on seven hits over six innings pitched. The start marked the second straight game (and third overall) where Clark had pitched through the sixth inning in a start this season. Clark worked through 11 innings with only two earned runs allowed over his two starts prior to facing the Red Sox on 5/4... RHP Boone Whiting gets the game two start for the visiting Nationals. Whiting comes in at 3-1 with a 4.03 ERA over five starts this season. He won each of his first three starts this season, but is 0-1 since.
