FREDERICK, Md. - The Frederick Keys scored five times in the bottom of the seventh to defeat the Wilmington Blue Rocks 7-2 on Wednesday night at Nymeo Field. With the victory the Keys claim their first series win at home in 2016, while it ends a string of seven straight sets without a victory at Nymeo Field.

After the Blue Rocks tied the game in the top of the seventh, the Keys answered with five markers of their own while sending 10 to bat. Jonah Heim and Cam Kneeland started things off with back-to-back singles off Ashton Goudeau. Erick Salcedo then laid a bunt down the third base line, which Wander Franco threw over the head of Corey Toups covering first. Heim scored on the play, and it set up two in scoring position for Jay Gonzalez, who doubled home both runners to make it a 5-2 contest.

Later in the inning, Gonzalez and Josh Hart executed a successful double steal setting up chances for Steve Wilkerson (sac-fly) and Aderlin Rodriguez (single) to drive runs home. The five-run inning was tied for the most productive of the year, while the five hits in the stanza also tied a season-best. Goudeau (2-3) was tagged for three of the five runs in the inning and took the loss. Working four innings, he allowed four runs on five hits, walked one and struck out six.

Tanner Scott earned the victory despite allowing the tying run to score in the top of the seventh. Over one inning he walked four, as the lefty issued three straight free rides with one out. Josh Banuelos later scored on a wild pitch, while a sac-fly by Robert Pehl made it a 2-2 affair. Scott (2-1) struck out one and walked four to tie a season-high.

John Means received a no-decision, but was outstanding over six shutout innings. He scattered six hits, walked one and struck out six. It was the lefty's third quality start of the year.

Frederick scored first in the initial frame, as Gonzalez walked and came on home on an RBI single by Wynston Sawyer. In the sixth, Sawyer added a second RBI with a double down the first base line which brought home Hart. Sawyer ended 2-for-3 while Gonzalez also posted a multi-RBI game and scored twice.

The Keys try for their second straight sweep of the Blue Rocks on Thursday morning. Right-hander Matthew Grimes (3-2, 2.03) gets the ball for the Keys and will be opposed by Blue Rocks righty Kyle Zimmer (0-0, 0.00 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 a.m from Nymeo Field and the broadcast can be heard on 1450 AM The Source and frederickkeys.com.
