Max Advances in Mascot Madness
March 21, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Manchester Monarchs News Release
MANCHESTER, NH - In one of the most hotly contested votes of all time, Manchester Monarchs mascot Max the Lion upset Buddy the Puffin from the St. John's IceCaps in the first round of the #MascotMadness contest on TheAHL.com. Buddy won this very contest in 2013.
Monarchs Marketing Manager Mackenzie Fraser made the announcement.
Max, who will be celebrating his 14th birthday on Sunday, garnered 2,336 votes in the divisional round while Buddy finished in second with 2,250 votes. Max will move on to the final round, which features the winner from each division in the AHL, beginning on April 5.
"When you're the king of the jungle - like myself - you take these competitions pretty seriously," Max said shortly after receiving a concession call from Buddy. "I can't wait to get to the finals so I can show the world how awesome I am."
Monarchs fans can vote for Max to win the Mascot Madness contest on TheAhl.com (http://theahl.com/2015-mascotmadness-p196829 ) and can promote Max's campaign on Twitter with the hashtag #MascotMadness.
