Rattie Spurs Wolves to OT Win over Barons

Chicago Wolves News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY --- Right wing Ty Rattie netted the game-winning tally 3:46 into overtime as the Chicago Wolves earned two points with a 2-1 win over the Oklahoma City Barons on Saturday night at the Cox Convention Center.
Right wing Benn Ferriero notched the team's lone regulation goal as the Wolves (30-25-6-1) snapped a three-game losing streak with a victory over one of the top teams in the Western Conference.
Despite a fast-paced tempo and chances from both squads, the opening 40 minutes remained scoreless as the goaltenders each stopped the first 18 shots they faced. The 0-0 stalemate ended early in the third period when Chicago struck.
As the Wolves upped the pressure and crashed the crease, a rebound squirted out to Ferriero from a tough angle low in the faceoff circle. The forward whipped a quick shot on net that dinged off the far post and in for the 1-0 lead and his first tally since Nov. 22.
The Barons (37-19-5-3) tied it with 3:58 remaining in the game with a man-advantage marker. Just 10 seconds into a power play, former Wolves defenseman Brad Hunt buried a pass top-shelf corner to knot the score 1-1. The goal ended Jordan Binnington's shutout streak against the Barons at 116:02 and sent the game to overtime.
Rattie, who led both teams with seven shots, ended the game 3:46 into the extra session off a pretty set-up from former Baron forward Magnus Paajarvi. The duo moved in on a 2-on-1 break and the Wolves' second-leading goal scorer beat Laurent Brossoit glove-side to secure the extra point.
Binnington (20-13-4) stopped 30 of 31 to earn his first win since March 1. Brossoit (21-15-4) made 25 saves in the tilt.
The Wolves remain in Oklahoma City for a rematch against the Barons at 4 p.m. tomorrow. The team returns to Allstate Arena on Saturday, March 28, to face the Milwaukee Admirals in an Amtrak Rivalry game. To get the best deals on tickets, visit ChicagoWolves.com or call 1-800-THE-WOLVES.
