
Pirates Lose in OT, Extend Points Streak

Portland, Me. - It was déjà vu for the Portland Pirates (35-22-5-1) when they lost in overtime to the Hershey Bears (40-18-5-2) for the second consecutive night, this time by a score of 4-3. It was the tenth straight game without a regulation loss for the Pirates.
Brendan Shinnimin nabbed the first goal of the game with a power play stunner at 18:40 in the first, assisted by Jordan Martinook and Dylan Reese. Portland's lead held through the end of the period, but not long after that. Chris Brown tied the game at a goal apiece with a power play goal at 3:13 in the second, assisted by Casey Wellman and Jim O'Brien.
Liam O'Brien scored the go-ahead goal for the Bears at 3:57 in the third period, assisted by Chandler Stephenson and Garrett Mitchell. Shinnimin scored his second of the night to tie the game at 2-2 at 11:15, assisted by Jordan Szwarz and Lucas Lessio. Andre Burakovsky answered with another Hershey go-ahead at 12:58, assisted by Jim O'Brien and Wellman. The Pirates were able to tie the game back up 3-3 at 16:50 when Patrick McNeill netted his first goal of the season. McNeill was assisted by Szwarz and Joel Hanley.
The Pirates and Bears headed to overtime for the second night in a row, with the same ultimate result. Tim Kennedy netted the game-winner after an exciting overtime period that resulted in exciting three-on-three play. Kennedy scored at 5:42, assisted by Connor Carrick and Burakivsky.
The Pirates head on the road tomorrow to take on the Manchester Monarchs. The game is at 3:00 p.m. The Pirates will play host to the St. John's Ice Caps for two games-Wednesday, March 25 at 7 p.m. and Friday, March 27 at 7 p.m. The Pirates will then host the Providence Bruins on Saturday, March 28 at 7 p.m. For tickets and more information call 207-PIRATES.
