Springfield Falcons News Release
Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons tamed the Hartford Wolf Pack, 2-1, in a shootout tonight at the MassMutual Center.
The win advances the Falcons to 34-24-7-0 on the season with 75 points. Springfield also holds a 3-2-3-0 record in the 10-game season series with Hartford.
Falcons goaltender Scott Munroe improved his record to 7-9-1 turning aside 15 of 16 shots on goal and four shootout attempts. Wolf Pack goaltender Yann Davis allowed one goal on 35 shots and one tally in four shootout attempts. Springfield was unable to convert on six power play opportunities, while shutting down all three Hartford man-advantages.
The Wolf Pack opened scoring at the 2:14 mark of the second period. Oscar Lindberg skated into the zone and lit the lamp from the right circle with the help of Joey Crabb and Mat Bodie.
With 7:04 remaining in the frame, the Falcons evened the score. Hubert Labrie fired a shot on net that was stopped by Danis. Captain Ryan Craig crashed the net and chipped in the rebound for his 13th of the season. Craig is now tied for the Falcons franchise lead with 90 career goals. T.J. Tynan is now on a two-game point streak with the secondary assist.
The teams were knotted after 60 minutes and went to overtime for the sixth time this season. A scoreless overtime frame forced a shootout.
Michael Chaput deked right and beat Danis in the fourth round of the shootout to give the Falcons a 2-1 victory.
The Falcons wrap up their home three-in-three against the Syracuse Crunch on Sunday, March 22 at 5 p.m.
