Bulldogs Fall to Rampage 4-2

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS - Hamilton Bulldogs forwards Nick Sorkin and Gabriel Dumont scored, but that was all the offence for the 'Dogs (30-25-9-0) in a 4-2 loss to the San Antonio Rampage (38-20-5-1) at AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas on Saturday evening.

Seconds after San Antonio forward Rocco Grimaldi was stopped by Hamilton goaltender Mike Condon on a penalty shot, Rampage forward Connor Brickley buried a rebound attempt in front to open the scoring at 4:22 of the first period. Defenceman Matthew Corrente had the only assist on the play.

One second after the Bulldogs' first power play of the night expired, Hamilton forward Nick Sorkin slid his ninth goal of the season past San Antonio goaltender Michael Houser to tie the game 1-1, assisted by forwards Sahir Gill and Jake Dowell at 8:56 of the first period.

With one minute to go in the opening frame, Rampage forward Andrew Yogan put a wrist shot five hole on Condon to give his team a 2-1 lead. Forward Wade Megan assisted.

Just over five minutes into the second period, San Antonio forward Bobby Butler put a wrist shot high blocker side on Condon to put the Rampage ahead 3-1 on the power play. Grimaldi had an assist.

Rampage forward Garrett Wilson made it a 4-1 game at 6:22 of the third period when he beat Condon with a wrist shot. Forward Quinton Howden and defenceman Blake Parlett drew assists.

At 11:57 of the final stanza, 'Dogs forward Gabriel Dumont one-timed home his 17th goal of the season on the power play to cut the deficit to 4-2, with assists from forwards T.J. Hensick and Eric Tangradi.

Condon made 20 saves on 24 shots for the Bulldogs in the loss, while Houser stopped 30 of 32 shots for the Rampage in the win.

Hamilton went 1-for-6 on the power play, while San Antonio was 1-for-3 with a man advantage.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Sunday, March 22 when they'll visit the Rampage again at AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas at 5 p.m. ET. The 'Dogs will return home on Thursday, April 2 when they'll host the Chicago Wolves at FirstOntario Centre at 7:30 p.m.
