INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - The Tulsa Oilers defeated the Missouri Mavericks, 4-1, Friday night in front of the fifth straight sellout crowd of 5,800 fans at Independence Events Center. Ryan Menei had a goal and two assists for the Oilers and goaltender Shane Madolora stopped 31 of the Mavericks' 32 shots. The win for the Oilers marked the team's first road win in their last 13 games, and their first win over the Mavericks in their last four tries. Newly acquired forward, Patrick Schafer, scored the opening goal at the 7:44 mark of the first period when a shot trickled under the arm of Mavs' goaltender Mike Clemente and Schafer was on the backdoor to put the puck in the net.

Tulsa took a 2-0 lead in the second period on Menei's goal at the 13:17 mark of the second period. Menei lifted his shot over Clemente's shoulder and the visitors had a two-goal lead through two periods.

In the third period, the Mavericks battled back when Colt King jammed home loose puck at the 12: 15 mark. It marked King's fourth goal in his last five games and his third straight game with a goal. The Mavericks had a great opportunity to tie the game when they were awarded a power play with 3:06 remaining in regulation, but the Oilers killed the penalty and scored two empty net goals in the final minute.
