FORT WORTH, Texas (January 11) - The Fort Worth Brahmas announced Friday the additions of three defensemen: Greg Eskedjian, Cole Ruwe and Eric Tallent. In conjunction with the signings, the Brahmas also placed Matt Ambroz on team suspension and waived Daniel Barnes.
Eskedjian arrives in Fort Worth after spending the beginning of the 2102-2013 season with HYC Herentals of the Erevidise in the Netherlands. In nine games, the 6-foot, 185-pound defenseman scored two goals and picked up four penalty minutes. Eskedjian spent the 2011-2012 season with the Brahmas, netting five points (one goal, four assists) and 19 penalty minutes in 29 games.
Ruwe played 10 games earlier this season with the Mississippi Surge of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL), posting two points (one goal, one assist) and 29 penalty minutes. Previously, the Pekin, Illinois native spent two seasons in the CHL with the Missouri Mavericks and one in the International Hockey League (IHL) with the Bloomington Prairie Thunder.
Tallent spent the first 25 games of the 2012-2013 season with the Louisiana Ice Gators of the SPHL. The 6-foot, 190-pound defenseman posted nine points (one goal, eight assists) and 75 penalty minutes. Tallent also played 57 with the Ice Gators throughout the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 seasons.
The three defensemen will see their first action with the team when the Brahmas hit the road to take on the Allen Americans tonight, Friday, January 11 at 7:05pm at the Allen Event Center. Saturday, Fort Worth hosts Allen for the third consecutive meeting between the two teams. The game is set for 7:30pm at the NYTEX Sports Centre in North Richland Hills, and the first 800 fans ages 12 and under in attendance will receive a free Brahmas youth jersey courtesy of Ashley Furniture.
