Wichita, KS - Evan Vossen scored in round six of the shootout to help Missouri (28-19-4) skate past Wichita (30-16-7) 5-4 on Saturday night at the Independence Events Center. Wichita attempted to take the capacity crowd out of the game with some early pressure and were rewarded. The game opened up immensely in the second period with the two teams combining for five goals in the frame. Missouri scored the first three in the second to grab a two-goal advantage. Colt King ended the Missouri run with an unassisted goal with five minutes remaining in the period. Wichita answered the bell in the final 2:30 of the second frame with a goal from Flath, his second of the contest, to make it 4-3. With 2.7 seconds remaining in the period, Painchaud picked up a loose puck in the slot and buried it past Mike Clemente to even things at four.

After a five-minute overtime, Wichita and Missouri needed a shootout for the first this season between the two teams. John-Scott Dickson, Sebastien Thinel and Evan Vossen recorded goals in the shootout while Summers and Flath scored for Wichita. In the bottom half of round six, Kevin Young attempted to keep the Thunder alive. He came down the slot, beat Clemente to the forehand but rang the puck off the right post, slid across the goal line, hit the left post and never crossed the red stripe to give Missouri a 5-4 win.

Painchaud had a goal and two assists for the Thunder while Flath finished with a pair of goals Trimm tallied his second shorthanded goal of the year and just the third of the season for the Thunder.
