WEEK AHEAD

Tuesday, February 11 - Missouri Mavericks at Tulsa Oilers, 7:05 p.m. CST

Missouri and Tulsa battle it out in a home-and-home this week. The Mavericks travel to Tulsa on Tuesday before the teams head back to Independence Events Center Thursday. The Mavericks currently sit just three points below the Oilers for the final playoff spot in the Northern Conference although the Oilers have a game in-hand over Missouri. Tulsa won the previous two matchups and has won three of the five meetings this season. Including the two games this week, the Mavericks and Oilers will meet four more times this season. Forward Jeff Christian leads the Mavericks in scoring with eight points on a four goals and four assists in four games against Tulsa. The Oilers are led by Aaron Davis who has four goals and six assists for 10 points in five games played.

Saturday, February 13 - Missouri Mavericks at Amarillo Gorillas, 7:05 p.m. CST

The Mavericks travel to Amarillo for the final game between the teams this season. The teams have split the first two games with each team winning on home ice including a 3-2 shootout win for Missouri in the last game on December 5, 2009. Jeff Christian has a pair of goals leading the Mavericks in scoring against the Gorillas.

Thursday, February 11 - Missouri 1 vs. Bossier-Shreveport 3

The Missouri Mavericks lost their third straight game Thursday night, 3-1, to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs at Independence Events Center. Jordan Foreman scored the only goal for the Mavericks, and Gerry Festa stopped 20 of 23 shots in his first loss in regulation in four starts. David Rutherford had a pair of goals for the Mudbugs, but it was goaltender John DeCaro that stole the show stopping 42 of 43 shots for Bossier-Shreveport.

Friday, February 12 - Missouri 4 at Wichita 1

The Mavericks ended their three-game winless streak Friday night with a convincing 4-1 win over the Wichita Thunder at Intrust Bank Arena. Jeff Christian finished with a pair of goals and goaltender Charlie Effinger stopped 25 of 26 shots in his first start with the Mavericks. Missouri (21-22-4) never trailed in the game and improved to 8-0-0 against the Thunder (7-34-3) this season.

Saturday, February 13 - Missouri 6 vs. Mississippi 1

Karl Sellan recorded the first hat-trick in team history and the Missouri Mavericks cruised to a 6-1 victory over the Mississippi RiverKings Saturday night in front of a sold out crowd of 5,800 fans at Independence Events Center. Sellan also had an assist to become the first player other than Jeff Christian to record a four-point game for the Mavericks. Toby Lafrance had three assists and Mavericks' goaltender Charlie Effinger stopped 39 of 40 shots for his second straight win.

Season tickets on sale - Mavericks 2010-11 season tickets are now on sale and start as low as $10 per game. The Mavericks require a $50 non-refundable deposit per seat which secures a high priority number. Seat selection for all new season tickets will take place after the Mavericks' current season. Call the Mavericks front office at (816) 252-7825 to secure season tickets for next season.

Royal Blue Night - Join the Mavericks and the Royals this Thursday night when Royals' Hall of Famer Dennis Leonard and other Royals alumni come to Independence Events Center.

Three or more - The Mavericks are 20-2-3 this season when scoring three or more goals compared to just 2-20-1 when scoring two goals or fewer. Missouri is 0-8-1 at home when scoring 2 goals or fewer this year, and 12-1-1 when scoring three or more at home.

Playoff look - Five teams in each conference will make the 2010 CHL playoffs. Missouri is currently in sixth place in the Northern Conference, just three points below Tulsa and four points below Mississippi. The Mavericks have 16 games remaining on their schedule, and eight of those games are against Bossier-Shreveport, Mississippi and Tulsa, the three closest teams the Mavericks trail in the standings.

Debut - Goaltender Charlie Effinger made his debut in a Mavericks' uniform and played in two games this past weekend. He stopped 64 of 66 shots overall in two wins allowing just one goal in each of his wins respectively.

Rookie Leader - Mavericks' forward Nick Sirota is second in scoring among rookies in the Central Hockey League. Sirota has 37 points on 16 goals and 21 assists this season and trails Corpus Christi's Ryan Garbutt by just two points. Sirota's 16 goals are also second among rookies and his 21 assists rank second.

Scoring leader - Mavericks' forward Jeff Christian leads the team in scoring with 61 points (26-3561) this season. He ranks tied for seventh among all players in the CHL in scoring. His 26 goals rank tied for second behind Corpus Christi's Chad Woolard who has 31 goals. Christian's 186 shots this season also rank fifth in the CHL.
