THIS WEEK'S GAMES

The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees play their fourth straight three-in-three beginning Thursday at Laredo against the Bucks. RGV enters the week two points out of the final playoff spot in the South and eight points out of the No. 3 position. RGV snapped a four-game winless skid (0-3-1) on Sunday with a 4-3 shootout win over the Bucks. The game was decided by one goal for the seventh time in 10 meetings; it was also the sixth time the teams played to a shootout. RGV hosts the Rapid City Rush on Friday and Laredo again on Saturday in a special 1 PM game. Rapid City leads the Northern Conference with 70 points and has the second-most wins (33) in the CHL entering the week. It's the only meeting of the season between the two teams.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

- COMING UP --- RGV heads right back to Laredo on Thursday to begin another 3-in-3. They return home Friday vs. Rapid City and then host Laredo at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

- WELCOME TO THE FARM ---The City of Hidalgo announced on Feb. 4 that RGV's home ice is now known as the State Farm Arena. They take over the naming rights from Dodge.

- STAYING OUT OF THE BOX --- Despite being penalized 40 times in the last four games, RGV has the lowest penalty minute average in the league(15.9 PIM per game, 763 PIM).

- MULTIPLE PPG MEANS WINS --- RGV is a perfect 10-0-0 and has not given away standings points when scoring two or more power play goals in a game this season.

- ROSTER CHANGES --- Zak McClellan was placed on the 14-day IR retroactive to Feb. 6 while Topher Scott has been activated...D Andrew Davis changed his number from 2 to 72.

- HOLDIN' ON --- RGV is 16-1-3 when leading after two periods. RGV is 4-0-2 when leading after 40 minutes in its last 17 games.

- BUSY BUSY BEES --- RGV plays 13 games in February with 12 of those coming against Southern Conference rivals. Of those 12, 10 are against Corpus Christi (3) and Laredo (7). Two come against the Americans while the other is the team's only game vs. Rapid City.

- CLOSE SHAVE --- RGV has been involved in 22 games decided by one goal this season and has a record of 11-4-7 in those contests. Goalie Andy Franck is 8-1-5 in those decisions while Wylie Rogers is 3-3-2.

- ROUGH ROAD--- The Killer Bees are 2-3-2 in their last seven road games and have been outscored 30-12.

- FOUR'S STILL MORE --- RGV is 15-0-1 when scoring four or more goals this season. When scoring six or more, the Killer Bees are 6-0-0.

- WHEN FOUR IS LESS --- Out of Rio's 21 regulation losses, 18 have come when opponents score four or more goals. RGV is 3-18-1 when allowing four or more with all three of those wins coming away from Hidalgo.

- 2009 vs. 2010 --- RGV went 15-11-4 from October to December. Since Jan. 1 the team is 5-10-3.

- FRANCK SETS SEASON HIGHS AND FRANCHISE RECORD --- Andy Franck made a season-high 50 saves vs. LAR on Feb.4. His 26 second-period saves were also a season-high and a franchise record.

- BEES AMONG CHL LEADERS (as of 2/15/10) --- Grant Goeckner-Zoeller (T9 scoring, T7 goals)...Jesse Bennefield (T8 scoring, T4 goals)...Sean Muncy (3 rookie scoring, 1 rookie assists)...Nathan Ansell (T4 D scoring, 1 D assts)...Andy Franck (2nd minutes played, 1st saves, 9th save%).

- INJURY UPDATE --- Zak McClellan was placed on the 14-day IR retroactive to Feb. 6 ...F Justin Kanigan is on the injured reserve list...D Jason Seerey has been granted leave by the CHL.

- ALL-TIME MARK --- RGV is 183-201-44 (428 games).

FEB 14, 2010, RGV 4, LAR 3 --- Andy Franck made 33 saves including four in the shootout to lead the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees to a 4-3 win over the Laredo Bucks Sunday at the Laredo Entertainment Center.RGV and Laredo have played to six shootouts this season and seven of the 10 meetings have been decided by one goal.The Killer Bees led 3-1 heading into the third period thanks to a pair of goals in the middle stanza from Joel Irving and Brett Clouthier.

FEB 13, 2010, LAR 3, RGV 2 (SO) --- Adam Rivet (2-0-2) posted two goals, while Daryl Smith nabbed the game-winner to lead the Laredo Bucks over the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 4-2 Saturday night at State Farm Arena. Jesse Bennefield (1-1-2) added a goal, his 24th of the season, and an assist for the Bees.

FEB 12, 2010, CRP 5, RGV 3 --- The Corpus Christi IceRays scored three unanswered goals to battle back from a 3-2 deficit to defeat the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 5-3 Friday night at State Farm Arena. With the win the IceRays move into fifth place, and two points ahead of Rio in the Southern Division standings. Grant Goeckner-Zoeller posted two goals, while Sean Muncy added two assists for the Bees.
