Oakley Central Hockey League Player/Goaltender Of The Month Announced

(Tempe, Arizona) - The Central Hockey League announced today that the recipients for the Oakley Central Hockey League Player and Goaltender of the Week for the period ending February 14, 2010 are defenseman Simon Mangos of the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs and goaltender Brett Jaeger of the Texas Brahmas.
Mangos finished a strong week with nine points (3-6=9) in four games. The steady defenseman helped the Mudbugs to three wins in those four games and was the main catalyst in the 'Bugs 6-1 win at Mississippi on Tuesday, a game that saw him score a goal and have three helpers. The Cambridge, Ontario native followed that up by scoring two goals in a 38 second span of Thursday's 3-1 win at Missouri. His second goal served as the game winner. On the season, Mangos is tied for third among defensemen with 36 points (10-26=36). Mangos joins Odessa's Philippe Plante and Colorado's Aaron Schneekloth as blue liners that have won the weekly honor. Jaeger has heated up as has the Brahmas. The Peace River, Alberta native had a great Valentine's Day weekend allowing just one goal in his two games played, both victories. The 5-10, 190-pound net minder stopped 58 of the 59 shots he faced beating both Laredo and Allen. His win versus the Bucks came via a 28-save shutout (his second of the season) and in the victory versus Allen he turned away 30 of 31 shots. On the season, Jaeger is 14-10-1 with a 2.65 goals against average and a.914 save percentage. Jaeger won the weekly honor back on December 14th as well.
In recognition of their achievements both Mangos and Jaeger will receive a special gift from Oakley.
