INDEPENDENCE, MO - The Missouri Mavericks announced Tuesday afternoon that Jesse Root has been called-up to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate team, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

Root currently leads the Mavs and the ECHL in goals (13) while ranking second in the league for points (28). In only twenty-two games with the Mavs this season, Root has already matched his previous season's record of 13 goals, 15 assists and 28 points.

Last season, Root divided his time between the Texas Stars (AHL) and the Idaho Steelheads (ECHL), collectively scoring 28 points (13G,15A) through fifty-two total games.

The Pittsburgh, PA native is under contract with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL) for the 2015-16 season. He was assigned to the Mavericks before the start of the regular season on Oct. 8, 2015.

This is not Root's first trip to Bridgeport, as he played eleven games for the Sound Tigers during their 2013-14 season to start his professional career.

A Yale University graduate, Root was named the NCAA (ECAC) best defensive forward for the 2013-14 season and in 2013 helped his team to the NCAA Championship title.

The Mavericks play their next game on the road against the Tulsa Oilers on Sunday, Dec. 13 at 4:05p.m. at the BOK Center. Missouri returns to Silverstein Eye Centers Arena for a three-game home-stand Dec. 18 through Dec. 20.

Tickets are available online at TicketMaster.com and in-person at the arena box office.
