LAST WEEK'S RECAP

Overall Picture: The Greenville Swamp Rabbits (10-11-2), proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf, went .500 in their fifth three-game series of the season this past weekend as they battled the Cincinnati Cyclones and Norfolk Admirals on SANDLAPPER Securities Rink.

The Swamp Rabbits opened the weekend on Thursday when the club jumped out to a three-goal lead and held on late for a 4-3 victory over Cincinnati at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena. Forward Henri Ikonen, in his Swamp Rabbits debut, scored the game-winning goal with less than five minutes remaining, while Ryan Rashid (1g, 1a) and Scott Fleming (1g, 1a) each added a multi-point effort. Between the pipes, Jeff Malcolm made 25 saves to earn his fourth win of the season.

Twenty-four hours later, Greenville tied a season-high with six goals, but fell in overtime to the Cyclones, 7-6, on Friday. Riley Weselowski scored twice for the visitors, including the game-winning goal with just 1:10 remaining in the extra frame, to lift Cincinnati to the win. Greenville's Jordan Knackstedt also turned in a two-goal performance and added an assist, while Rob Kwiet (1g, 2a) and Kodie Curran (1g, 2a) collected three points for the home team. Overall, eight Swamp Rabbits registered at least one point in the contest.

Greenville concluded the weekend on Saturday when the team fired 30 shots at goaltender Ty Rimmer in their annual Teddy Bear Toss night presented by the Bon Secours St. Francis Health System, but could not solve him or the Norfolk Admirals in a 3-0 setback. Norfolk registered two goals on the power play, while the Swamp Rabbits went 0-for-8 on the man advantage. Rimmer went on to earn CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week honors this past week.
