Salt Lake City Stars News Release

SALT LAKE CITY - The NBA G League announced today that Salt Lake City Stars Head Coach Martin Schiller was named NBA G League Coach of the Month for games played in December. It is Schiller's first career Coach of the Month award and he becomes the first Stars coach to win the honor since the team began play in Salt Lake City in 2016.

Schiller guided Salt Lake City to a league-best 9-1 (.900) record in December, including a perfect 4-0 mark on the road during the month. The Stars held a 14-game winning streak that carried into December (Nov. 15 to Dec. 27), tying the second-longest single-season winning streak in NBA G League history. Salt Lake City finished 2019 with the best record in the league at 14-3 (.824).

With Schiller at the helm, the Stars won the first-ever MGM Resorts NBA G League Winter Showcase tournament in Las Vegas in December after defeating the Wisconsin Herd and Grand Rapids Drive.

Over the course of the season, Schiller has guided two players to GATORADE NBA Call-Ups: Juwan Morgan (Utah Jazz) and William Howard (Houston Rockets).

Through December, the Stars led the league in fewest points allowed (97.0), defensive rating (95.0), net rating (+11.4), fewest opponent field goals made (35.5) and fewest opponent three-pointers made (8.5). Salt Lake City held its opponent to under 100 points on five occasions in December and won six games by 10-or-more points.

The Stars will host the Santa Cruz Warriors tomorrow night for "Pirate Night presented by Divvy." The first 300 fans in attendance at Bruin Arena will receive a pirate hat and eye patch. The game, which tips off at 7 p.m. (MT), will be broadcast on NBAGLeague.com.

Tickets for all Stars home games are available at slcstars.com.
