Caroline Scores Career High But South Bay Falls to Skyforce

SIOUX FALLS, SD - The South Bay Lakers couldn't get their offense going as they fell to the Sioux Falls Skyforce, 107-94, on Thursday night. Jordan Caroline scored a career-high 20 points for South Bay (10-10) and Devontae Cacok tallied his 16th double-double of the year. Daryl Macon tallied a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double for Sioux Falls (9-13) in the win.

South Bay gained a 25-23 lead through one as Talen Horton-Tucker brought his scoring prowess into 2020, finishing with seven points in the opening frame. The Lakers held their opponent to 27.6 percent shooting in the first quarter. Sioux Falls found a rhythm in the second quarter and were able to take a 54-41 halftime lead. Macon powered the Skyforce with 11 points in the second.

The Skyforce extended their lead going into the final quarter, 90-58, as they held the Lakers to only 17 points in the third. Horton-Tucker scored 10 points in the fourth quarter and the Lakers outscored the home team by 19 points, but they couldn't complete the comeback on the road.

Macon's double-double paced the Skyforce and Marcus Lee grabbed one of his own with 10 points and 16 rebounds. Mychal Mulder led the team in scoring with 22 points. Skyler Flatten and KZ Okpala each scored 11 points and Jarrett Jack and Bubu Palo scored 10 points apiece for the Skyforce.

Caroline's career-high led South Bay in scoring and Cacok recorded his 10th consecutive double-double with 14 points, 15 rebounds, two assists and two steals off the bench. Horton-Tucker finished with 20 points, four rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks, while Kostas Antetokounmpo also scored in double figures with 14 points, eight rebounds, two assists, one steal and four blocks.

South Bay finishes their two-game road trip against the Texas Legends on Saturday, January 4 at 5:30pm from the Comerica Center in Frisco, TX.
